For those that aren't familiar with "Project Neon", the car is a 97 ACR coupe. It was previously equipped with a built 2.0 / 20G / Chill Factory fuel setup and ran mid 11s at over 120mph. Then I got greedy, turned up the boost, popped the HG, and decided that I wanted to see what a 2.4 would be able to do. I parted out most of that setup and with the proceeds, started purchasing bigger and better stuff. The car now currently sports a 2004 PT Turbo motor, with a built 3spd automatic trans, and an AEM EMS. Here
are some pics from the 2005-2006 buildup, oldest to newest:

The old 20G turbo on the left has an internal wastegate, hence the extended exhaust housing. The GT35R will be used with a TiAl 40mm external gate. |
Look at the puny 2.5" inlet / 2.25" outlet on the 20G compared to the 4" inlet / 2.5" outlet on the GT35R. |
The big differences are on the exhaust side. The 35R has a full 3" GT style 4-bolt outlet, while the 20G has only a 2-3/8" outlet. The 35R turbine will allow for much less restriction and better breathing on the top end. |
New R/T Ernie Manifold, Downpipe, and Dumptube arrived today. Eric "R/T Ernie" Urness does great work! See below.

| UPDATE 10/02/2006 DCR Windage Tray & Crank Scraper assembly
Oil & Coolant lines test fitted on the GT35R
I want to thread a 1/2" NPT fitting into the hole where the stock SRT drain went before...
|
| UPDATE 10/14/2006 Shown here are the 1/2" Pipe Reamer, 1/2" NPT Tap, and the fitting. I've reamed the hole to the full size of that tool, but so far I've only been able to run the tap about 1/3 of the way. Its tough to reach, and tough to get much torque without applying too much bending force to the tool. I need to get a better handle for the tap...
Boxes of EBAY goodies arrived today. 4" K&N Filter, and some polished J-bends.
Air Filter & 4" 45* tube. Still need to get a 90* silicone coupler to connect the open end to the turbo inlet.
Air Filter mockup
Starting to mock up the charge pipes. I may run the top tube directly through the core support, to shorten the distance. The bend would have to be fairly abrupt, so I may modify the intercooler outlet to make this easier.
