Breaking Glass, Building Conversations
TCO
2024
For ONS 2024, TCO, a Norwegian oil service company, wanted a stand that highlighted their groundbreaking Disappearing Glass Plug. The challenge was to cut through the noise of a busy exhibition floor, while keeping the design minimal, functional, and true to brand. We created a stand design that captured the drama of breaking glass and turned it into a conversation starter.
For ONS, TCO wanted to spotlight their Disappearing Glass Plug, a product with a unique selling point: it literally disappears through the act of breaking glass.
The challenge was to create a stand that would:
- Highlight the Disappearing Glass Plug’s USP in a visually compelling way.
- Attract attention, especially as it was located along a busy pathway.
- Maintain TCO’s preference for minimalistic design.
- Provide space for product photography, storage, and visitor engagement.
- Include demonstration models
We elevated the drama of breaking glass by turning the ceiling into the focal point. Suspended above the stand, a dynamic visual feature combined the TCO logo with the motif of shattering glass, instantly drawing eyes from across the hall.
To reflect TCO’s minimalist ethos, the stand was kept open, fluid, and light. Transparent backlit panels in TCO blue reinforced the glass theme, while a 65” screen looped video content to deepen brand storytelling. Integrated demonstration stands, a reception desk, and discreet storage ensured form never compromised function.
To bring this concept to life, we partnered with ShowOff, the ONS official stand contractor, who built the stand to our design specifications and turned the vision into a striking physical presence.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive – both from visitors and TCO’s own team. The stand became more than just a backdrop; it embodied TCO’s spirit of innovation and turned a technical USP into a powerful visual story.
The ability to focus on a product with such definitive characteristics created a powerful visual narrative that drew visitors in and invited conversation.
The use of backlit panels in TCO’s brand colours added atmosphere and cohesion, while the open layout facilitated smooth visitor flow and meaningful engagement. This open and inviting design also created the perfect backdrop for informal drinks receptions TCO hosted at their stand. The space enabled guests to comfortably gather and interact in a relaxed branded setting.
TCO’s presence at ONS stood out not just for its visual impact, but for its clarity of message. The stand became a memorable representation of the company’s commitment to innovation, safety, and integrity.
