Ocean Installer at ONS 2024
Ocean Installer
2024
Ocean Installer is a leading subsea and offshore construction company based in Stavanger, delivering complex projects for the global energy industry. For ONS 2024, the company wanted to do more than showcase its offshore capabilities – they wanted to highlight their people.
Following the acquisition by Moreld, the focus was clear: attract new talent and present Ocean Installer as a dynamic, empowering place to work. The challenge was to create a stand that communicated this message in a fun, interactive, and authentic way.
With the operational side of the business featured on the Moreld stand, Ocean Installer’s 24 sqm space in Hall 7 required more of a focus on people and recruitment. The brief called for a stand that would:
- Highlight Ocean Installer as a great place to work
- Showcase the company’s global reach and track record
- Reflect their culture of teamwork, diversity, and challenge
- Include an activity to draw visitors and start conversations
Ocean Installer reached out just a couple of months prior to ONS, with a quick turnaround required in order to meet stand building deadlines. We kicked off with a briefing call with key members of the Ocean Installer team and swiftly established the key priorities in terms of the look and feel they were after.
Based on our initial discussions, we created a stand that told Ocean Installer’s story through people, projects, and purpose. A bold headline – Ready for your next challenge? – invited visitors to imagine themselves as part of the team, while a global map illustrated the company’s reach and the scale of projects delivered across the world. A detailed graphic of Ocean Installer’s fleet reinforced the strength of their operational capability.
A feature wall celebrated the individuals behind Ocean Installer – a collage of Polaroids showing staff from across the globe, supported by key stats about the company’s global footprint and team diversity. The combination of clean design, personal storytelling, and glowing backlighting created an open and inviting atmosphere that stood out on the busy exhibition floor.
To encourage visitors to stay and engage, we introduced The Lego Challenge – a one-handed, 60-second tower-building competition. It added energy and playfulness while nodding to Ocean Installer’s engineering mindset and love of problem-solving. A specially designed plinth was created for the challenge, branded with details of the prize and strategically positioned for maximum visibility. Every participant received an Ocean Installer giveaway, and the winner earned the ultimate Stavanger experience: a night at the Eilert Smith Hotel and dinner for two at the Michelin-starred restaurant RE-NAA.
Ahead of the event, Project Neon hosted a pre-show briefing for Ocean Installer staff attending ONS. The session introduced the design concept and theme, and covered everything from stand conduct and attire to key messaging and practical details – ensuring the team felt confident, prepared, and cohesive on-site.
The finished stand struck the right balance between professionalism and personality, capturing the energy, openness, and team spirit that define Ocean Installer. The Lego Challenge proved hugely popular, keeping the stand busy throughout the event and sparking genuine conversations about the company and its people.
By combining clean design with interactivity and authenticity, the stand helped Ocean Installer stand out in Hall 7 and reinforced its reputation as a company built on teamwork, trust, and a readiness to take on any challenge.
